What is a Cloud-Based, Revenue Share Brokerage?

Greetings, I’m Craig Smyser with Fiv Realty, a cloud-based, revenue share brokerage.  What does it mean to be cloud-based?  We don’t have any company-owned offices, nor do we have any franchises.  Since everything an agent does to interact with Fiv can be done virtually, we don’t need company-owned offices.  I keep referring to company-owned offices, because I want to draw a distinction in that agents can have their own office.  I have an office, but its mine, not Fiv Realty’s.  When I joined Fiv, I closed my independent brokerage, so I already had an office.  While most agents do prefer to work from home, I personally like having an office, so I’ve kept it.  You’ll find throughout the Fiv family that some agents have an office, while others work from home.

What does it mean to be a revenue share brokerage?  Fiv did not invent the revenue share model, but it’s proving to be very popular.  Because the company doesn’t have any physical offices, it cuts down on a lot of overhead expenses.  Further, Fiv doesn’t advertise to agents in an effort to grow the company.  Instead, agents at Fiv are offered a share of the revenue to attract agents to the company, thus allowing us to grow.  Since we don’t have what are two of the most expensive components of a real estate company – offices and agent attraction advertising – we are able to direct those funds to agents already at the company.  By attracting other agents to Fiv, existing agents are able to earn income that doesn’t come from their personal production.  To learn about revenue share at Fiv, just check out that video.
